I've been a bit under the weather, so I wasn't able to line up a blogpost in time for Drupal 8's launch on Thursday. However, I did manage to contribute a 20-second video to the Celebr8D8 website:
Cringemakingly smug, but at least I tried.
Celebr8D8 was tweeting up a storm throughout the day, following timezones with a virtual "Mexican wave" of tweets and retweets, and we all gave a similarly virtual cheer on the #drupal-uk IRC channel when the 8.0.0 release finally appeared.
In the end I wasn't able to make the Manchester D8 party, but I did acquire a drinking companion for a brief toasting ceremony in the evening:
